Living Near Yonsei & Ewha: The Sinchon Housing Guide

This is the classic "University Town" of Seoul. With Yonsei, Ewha Womans, and Sogang University all clustered together, the Sinchon (신촌) and Ewha (이대) area is packed with students.

The Geography: Beware the Hills

Many affordable houses in this area are located on steep hills.

• Map Tip: A map looks flat. It is not. If your house is "5 minutes from the station" but up a mountain, you will hate walking home in the humid summer.

• Ewha Area: Generally quieter, safer, lots of female-only housing.

• Sinchon Area: Loud, neon lights, lots of bars and restaurants.

• Older Villas (Hillside): 450,000 ~ 550,000 KRW.

• Near Station (Officetels): 700,000 ~ 900,000 KRW.

• Goshiwons: Very common here, ranging from 300,000 ~ 500,000 KRW.
