"Where do I rest for ten days after my procedure in Gangnam without living in a hotel room?"

"Will I really want room service and a tiny bathroom while the swelling goes down?" "Can my friend stay with me without booking a second room?" "What if my follow-up appointment moves by a few days?"

Thousands of visitors fly to Seoul every year for cosmetic surgery, dermatology treatments and dental work in the clinic-dense Apgujeong, Sinsa and Cheongdam areas. The procedure itself usually takes a day. The part people underestimate is the recovery window that follows, often one to three weeks of check-ups, stitch removal and simply staying out of sight while you heal.

This guide is for that window. We look at why a hotel gets awkward after the first few nights, what a recovery stay actually needs, and one real one-bedroom residence near Gangnam-gu Office Station (강남구청역) with its live prices.

Does this sound like you?

If several of these fit, a short-term rental is probably a better base than a hotel for your recovery.

✓ Your clinic asked you to stay in Seoul for 7–21 days after the procedure

✓ You have follow-up visits, stitch removal or a laser session scheduled a week later

✓ A partner, friend or parent is flying in to look after you

✓ You would rather not walk through a busy hotel lobby with bandages or swelling

✓ You want to cook soft food, make tea and control your own meals

✓ You need to wash pillowcases, towels and loose clothes every day or two

✓ Your dates may shift if the doctor wants to see you again

✓ You want a quiet room, but still want a pharmacy and convenience store nearby

Recovery is not a sightseeing trip, so the room has to work like a small home.

Why the recovery window is the hard part to book

Most clinics in Gangnam give you a clear surgery date but a flexible recovery plan. Your check-up might be on day 5, stitches out on day 7, and a final review on day 10 or 14. That schedule rarely matches a neat hotel booking.

The days themselves are also different from a normal trip. You spend most of the time indoors, resting, icing, sleeping at odd hours and eating simple meals. A room that felt fine for two nights can feel very small by night six.

The real question is not where to sleep, but where to spend most of two weeks awake.

Hotel, clinic-partner guesthouse or short-term rental?

These are the three options most medical travelers compare in Gangnam. Each works for a different length of stay.

① Hotels are easy for the first few nights.

Check-in is simple and there is a front desk if something goes wrong. But standard rooms in Gangnam are compact, there is no kitchen, and laundry is either paid per item or a trip to a coin laundry. Adding a companion often means upgrading to a larger room or booking a second one.

② Clinic-partner guesthouses are convenient but basic.

Some clinics recommend nearby guesthouses or shared recovery houses with shuttle service. They are handy for the first two or three days. However, rooms are often small, bathrooms may be shared, and you have little privacy while you look your least presentable.

③ A short-term rental works like your own apartment.

You get a separate bedroom and living space, a kitchen, and a washer and dryer inside the unit. On Liveanywhere you book by the week, so extending by a few days after a follow-up is a date change rather than a new reservation.

Getting to the clinics from Gangnam-gu Office Station

Gangnam-gu Office Station sits on Line 7 and the Suin–Bundang Line, right between Apgujeong, Cheongdam and the Teheran-ro business district. The listing below is about a 2-minute walk from the station exit.

For clinic visits, the practical point is short trips. Cheongdam and Apgujeong Rodeo are roughly 12 minutes by taxi, and Sinsa's Garosu-gil (가로수길) is about 7 minutes by car. Seonjeongneung Station (선정릉역) on Line 9 is a 5-minute walk, and Hakdong Station (학동역) is about 8 minutes on foot.

In the first days after a procedure, many people prefer taxis over crowded trains. Kakao T, Korea's main taxi app, works with foreign cards and makes short rides like these easy to book.

Being close means your follow-up visits take 15 minutes, not half a day.

What a recovery stay actually needs

When you are healing, small practical details decide whether the stay feels calm or stressful. These are the four we would check first.

  1. A bed you can rest in all day.

You will likely sleep propped up and nap in the afternoon. A proper bedroom away from the kitchen and front door lets you rest while your companion moves around.

  1. A kitchen for soft, simple food.

Clinics often suggest avoiding spicy, salty or hard food for a while. Being able to make porridge, soup or smoothies saves you from ordering delivery three times a day. A supermarket and convenience stores within a few minutes' walk make this realistic.

  1. Laundry inside the unit.

Pillowcases, towels and loose tops need washing often during recovery. An in-unit washer and dryer means no coin laundry trips while you would rather stay home.

  1. A pharmacy close by.

Pharmacies in Korea are marked with a green cross and the sign 약국. The listing below has one about 3 minutes away, which helps when you run out of gauze or cold packs.

Comfort during recovery comes from these basics, not from hotel extras.

Before you book: linens, deposit and dates

A few details are specific to short-term rentals in Korea. Knowing them in advance avoids surprises on arrival day.

① Bedding and towels may not be included.

Under Korea's Public Health Control Act, some hosts are not allowed to supply bedding and towels themselves. The listing below says so clearly and offers to connect you with a professional linen service if you ask in advance. Pack a travel towel or arrange this before you land.

② There is a refundable deposit.

Most Liveanywhere homes ask for a security deposit, returned after check-out. Across the platform the typical figure is around KRW 300,000 (approx. USD 220), but each home sets its own amount.

③ Book a little longer than your clinic suggests.

If your doctor says ten days, consider two weeks. Adjusting dates on a weekly booking is simpler than finding a new room at the last minute.

Plan for the follow-up you might need, not only the one on your schedule.

This sits at the premium end of Liveanywhere's Gangnam listings. What you pay for is space and a hotel-grade finish: a separate bedroom, a lounge with sofas, and a full set of appliances.

🌿 The one-bedroom is furnished in a modern Italian style with quality bedding, a Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin speaker and a Nespresso machine.

🌿 The kitchen, washer, dryer and a clothing care cabinet (a steam closet for refreshing clothes) are all inside the unit.

🌿 Gangnam Severance Hospital is about 10 minutes by car, and CHA Medical Center is about 12 minutes, which the host notes for long-term treatment guests.

Around the building you have a CU and a GS25 convenience store within 3–4 minutes, a Hanaro Mart supermarket about 8 minutes away, and several cafés in the Nonhyeon (논현) café street within 5 minutes. Dosan Park (도산공원) is a 10-minute walk, a gentle route for your first short walks outside.

📍 Recent guest review (April 2026 · N** · ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, original review written in English)

The guest said the apartment matched the photos and was very clean. They found the location excellent, with a major subway station about 5 minutes away and plenty of restaurants, yet the unit itself stayed surprisingly quiet day and night, with a large supermarket just 2 minutes from the door.

Quiet inside, busy outside is exactly the balance a recovery stay needs.

Finding a short-term rental in Gangnam on Liveanywhere

Liveanywhere is a Korean short-term rental platform for stays from one week upward. Most homes are fully furnished with a kitchen and washer, contracts are signed electronically, and you can book without visiting in person.

For medical travelers, the useful part is flexibility. You can start with the length your clinic recommends and adjust as your follow-ups settle, instead of stacking separate hotel bookings. If this residence is above your budget, Gangnam also has smaller studios at much lower weekly prices, so it is worth filtering by area and dates.

Please follow your clinic's aftercare instructions first and choose a home that fits them. A good place to rest will not replace medical advice, but it makes the weeks after a procedure much easier.

Pick the clinic first, then pick a home within a short taxi ride of it.
